What is required to rent a car?
You must have a valid driver’s license and credit or debit card. We may, at our discretion, verify your license validity through an automated DMV connection. We are unable to accept paper ‘license renewals’ without an accompanying expired license.
Is a deposit required to rent?
Yes. Like all rental car companies, we require a security deposit. Our standard deposit is $250.00.
How much are your rentals?
Please use the online reservation/booking system to generate a price quote for the vehicle class and dates of your choosing. This will provide you with the most up-to-date pricing and allow you to see any applicable discounts that may apply, such as seasonal savings or promotions. Give us a call for a quote on delivery or pickup.
Are there any other fees?
Yes, there is a 9% Vermont use tax added to all rentals. Additionally, deliveries/pickups are subject to delivery fees and there is a $25 application fee for cash/debit card renters.
If you don’t have your own comprehensive-with-collision (full coverage) insurance, you will need to buy ours at $20 per day.
Do you offer contact-less rentals?
We were contact-free before it was cool! As much as we’d love to meet you, the fact is you have better things to do than hang out with rental car people! After your booking, we will arrange everything with you by email/chat/phone and when you arrive at your pickup location the car will be waiting for you. Same thing when you drop it off. You will simply park it, lock the doors, and walk away. This saves you significant time and keeps you safe.
The other option is to have VermontRentalCars.com staff meet you for the vehicle delivery, or pick up the vehicle at one of our fixed locations.

Why should I use Adirondack Rental Cars.
We are a small boutique car rental company based in Rutland, Vermont. Vermont and New York are states known for outdoor adventurers and having one of our four-wheel drive vehicles is a nice option year-round but a must have in the winter. The last thing you need during your trip is to be stuck on the side of the road in an overpriced Ford Focus rental that couldn’t handle the conditions. Plus, our size allows us to offer personalized service. We can bring the car to you, pick it up from you, and always be here to aid in any way to make your trip a success. Delivery fees will apply.

Yes, we are able to delivery a vehicle almost anywhere. Give us a call today for a custom delivery quote.
Do you rent cars in Saranac Lake after-hours or on weekends?
All the time! We are here when you need us. Just reach out using the contact form on either this website or call 833-RENT-SLK and we will be chatting with you in moments. We are ready to solve your car rental needs whenever they arise. We don’t charge an extra fee for after hour service, but standard delivery fees will apply.
What is the minimum rental age?
You must be 21 years old to rent. We know, it doesn’t seem fair, but it is the insurance companies not us! If you are between the ages of 18 and 21 and need a rental, contact us to see about a special exemption. In order for this exemption to apply, you will need verifiable full-coverage insurance or we may be able to purchase a policy for you.
Are dogs allowed?
What type of people would we be if we excluded man’s best friend! Dogs are always welcome in VermontRentalCars.com rental vehicles, with the exception of our Premium Vans and Executive XL SUVs. Just remember that you are responsible for any damage or excess cleaning that is required.
Do you offer long term rentals?
Yes, call for special pricing on rental durations in excess of two weeks.
Are discounts available?
We do periodically offer seasonal discounts, as well as one-time use promo codes that may apply. Please give us a call and our reservations team will work to get you the best possible price. We also offer discounts for Police, Military, Pilots and AAA members.
Do you offer one-way rentals?
Yes. One-way rentals are available anywhere within 500 miles of Rutland, Vermont. The way it works is simple, you drive to your destination and give us a call when you are ready to return the vehicle. We will send someone to pickup the vehicle from your location. Pickup fees vary based on distance. Please call 844-473-6888 for a quote.
Do you offer rentals in New York?
Vermont Rental Cars offers rentals at the Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Airports in the Adirondack Mountains through our sister company AdirondackRentalCars.com. Additionally, we can deliver vehicles to New York including the Albany Airport.
Do you offer rentals in Lake Placid?
Adirondack Rental Cars is once again offering rentals at the Lake Placid Airport. Cars will be available for pickup at the main desk of the airport during normal business hours.
